Norman's Dog Day Care | Dog Day Care in Over, Cambridgeshire

Norman’s Dog Day Care has arrived in the lovely village of Over and is the brainchild of Tamsin-Jane Sewell. After completing her BA Hons in Professional Practice in Canine Behaviour and Psychology she really wanted to do something to help with some of the more common behaviour issues that stem from leaving your dog at home for long periods of time whilst working.

The dog day care centre – named after the family’s Newfoundland – has been created to deal with dogs who are left at home whilst owners are at work. The environment is very different from any other dog day care. The days are structured with walks, play, learning, training and did we mention fun? There is plenty of that. Everything we do here at Norman’s is done to create a fun safe environment for your dog. Every dog who is considered for Norman’s Dog Day Care has a behavioural examination and the staff work together with a training plan specifically catered for your canine.

Daily Activities

We start the dog day care with socialisation with the other dogs in day care. The dogs are split into different groups. The smaller dogs are kept together so they don’t get bounced around by some of our bigger friends. All dogs who are over the age of 9 months get a lovely 45 minute walk in the beautiful fields surrounding the village of Over. We then return to the day care centre for lunches and treats and a little snooze before the canine enrichment and afternoon training activities commence.

Dog Training

Daily slots are allocated for one-to-one tuition. This can cover anything from help with recall, pulling on the lead, counter surfing and general manners. We also do more advanced training, such as getting your dog to ring bells, turn off light switches and open doors.

Play Time

Now, after a little discipline, the dogs are placed into group so they can have some fun time to let off some steam.

Down Time

Yes, you got it. The dogs are even taught how to relax and have some down time. This is especially helpful for dogs who find it hard to relax. We use canine massage and Tellington Touch techniques on the dogs to help them relax.

Afternoon Hide & Seek

We have designed our outside space to be fun. There are plenty of things to find, including yummy treats and, of course, their favourite toys.

Agility or Crazy Ball Launcher

Time for a whizz around on the agility course - great way to mentally and physically stimulate your dog. If your dog loves ball games then he or she is going to love our remote ball launcher. For the more chilled out canines, we have dog games which will give them a great mental workout.

Max has been attending Norman’s for a while now. As a rescue dog Max had quite a few issues when he first came to me. Max settled into doggy daycare quickly and loves it.
